There are two types of home exterior projects — the exciting projects that add interest and usability to your outdoor space, and then there are the necessary projects that help protect your home from the elements. While summer in Austin is great for spending time in the pool or lounging on your deck, it is also a notorious time for erratic weather and intense storms. Our goal at Falcon Residential Services is to help homeowners create an exterior that both protects the home and adds value. Here are three projects that will do both:

Roofing

The longer you put off repairing or replacing your roof, the greater chance for damage to other areas of your home. For example, if a section of your roof is damaged and heavy rain rolls through… the water could leak through to the attic and result in damage that is costly to repair. If your home’s roof is at the end of its lifespan and due for a complete replacement, high winds could cause a number of shingles to blow off and cause further, avoidable, damage. Not to mention, if you are depending on your home insurance to cover any resulting damage – there are exceptions. For example, if your roof is more than twenty years old… home insurance may not cover storm damage.

Gutters

Your home’s draining system can be easy to forget about, but it does play a crucial role when your area is hit with heavy rain. A properly installed rain removal system protects your home and its foundation from water damage. Gutter repair and installation is an auxiliary service that we provide in order to ensure that the exterior of your home not only looks great but also thoroughly protects the interior.

Siding

Newly installed siding does more than boost your home’s curb appeal. If you make the switch for vinyl siding to James Hardie fiber cement siding, you are making an investment and protecting the exterior of your home from a multitude of threats. Vinyl Siding protects your home solely from termites and is resistant to warping, but fiber cement siding is both of those things plus…non-combustible, rot resistant, and will not melt. James Hardie also allows you to choose your fiber cement siding according to your climate (we’re in Zone 10).
