The general consensus about home remodels is that they are inconvenient. Staying out of frequently used rooms requires altering your routine, and possibly eating take-out more than usual. We’ve put together some helpful tips on how to survive a home remodel and continue on with your life.

First and foremost, it’s important to hire a reputable company. Look over past reviews to ensure there aren’t any complaints about frequent delays or a pattern of mishaps. Some resources for reviews could be the company’s Facebook page, Yelp, or Houzz account. One of the ways we are able to keep remodel projects on track is by having a clear and complete scope of work before beginning. We make a note of the proper dimensions and sit down with the homeowner to decide on the specifics beforehand. While in the planning stages, we are always realistic and upfront about the expected timeline of a project. We won’t promise our clients a project will be complete 4 weeks when it will actually take 8 weeks. Faster does not always mean better when it comes to quality work, but we do aim to be efficient with our time and respectful of yours.

For any project that Falcon Residential works on, we don’t begin the project until all of the necessary equipment and materials are on site. We also always properly dispose of waste and keep your floors protected. We recommend that valuables in our entry and exit path be moved aside to avoid accidents. Following a higher standard means that we avoid unnecessary delays involving a back order of parts and leave the home better than we found it.

Once the work begins, there are certain things you can do as a homeowner to make the process as painless as possible. For instance, if you are undergoing a master bathroom remodel, make a point to fully equip your guest bathroom with what you will need to feel as though your routine is only minorly interrupted. If it’s a kitchen remodel, consider relocating the microwave and fridge so that you don’t have to forgo eating at home altogether. If it’s a large scale project and you’re someone who values their privacy and routine, consider making other temporary living arrangements. We want our clients to feel comfortable enough with us in their home to opt for a staycation and trust that a beautiful home transformation awaits.
